From 23 to 25 February, the International Exhibition Centre Ķīpsala in Riga will turn into an inspiring book town, where writers, translators, publishers and readers will meet at  Latvian Book Fair 2018. 

On February 23rd, the Fair will feature two events organised in collaboration with ALDUS network and the European Union Prize for Literature (EUPL).

  • 12:00_13:00  Overview of the research on current reading habits in Latvia carried out by Latvian Academy of Culture in cooperation with Latvian Publishers Association.
  • 14:00-15:30 EUPL prize – meet the winners an hear about their experiences.  An overview about the 9 years of life of the prize _ most translated books, most active countries, reasons why in some countries EUPL winners are translated more that in others along with meeting with local laureates: Osvalds Zebris, Inga Žolude. Freshly published in Latva: the recent translation of the novel by EUPL winner from Denmark Christian Bang Foss.

This latter event is part of the special initiatives launched by the EUPL in occasion of its tenth anniversary: a virtual journey to take readers across Europe and to celebrate the EUPL winners,  involving many of the book fairs of the ALDUS network.
