Teresa Pintó has a Degree and a Doctorate in Classical Philology, and a Master in Publishing, from University of Barcelona. She has also specialized in Rights and Intellectual Property and in Cultural Management, as well as in Business Communication in Social Media in the University of Edinburgh.

She worked doing publishing projects for two publishing houses: Editorial Crítica and Enciclopèdia Catalana.

She has been a literary agent at the Carmen Balcells Literary Agency since 1997, working with Carmen Balcells in the Spanish and Latin American authors department. She is currently working as foreign rights. The agency represents Spanish, Catalan and Portuguese authors throughout the world and foreign publishers and agencies in Spanish speaking countries and Portugal.

The Carmen Balcells Agency was founded over sixty years ago with the aim of professionalising writer’s work. The Agency currently represents many of the essential authors of contemporary literature, while investing in new talents. It defends authors’ literary interests and intellectual property worldwide, in all format and media, with a firm commitment to providing the very best service.

In 60 years, the Carmen Balcells Literary Agency has represented the works of six Nobel Laureates in Literature: Miguel Ángel Asturias, Pablo Neruda, Vicente Aleixandre, Gabriel García Márquez, Camilo José Cela, and Mario Vargas Llosa.
Furthermore, represents some of the most internationally acclaimed writers such as Julio Cortázar, Carlos Fuentes, Álvaro Mutis, Isabel Allende, Manuel Vázquez Montalbán, Eduardo Mendoza, Juan Marsé, Miguel Delibes, Carme Riera, Rosa Montero, Nélida Piñon, Rubem Fonseca, António Lobo Antunes, and a long list of literary figures from a variety of origins: Spain, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, Guatemala, the United States, the United Kingdom, Italy, Mexico, Paraguay, Peru, Portugal, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Uruguay and Venezuela.

Teresa is also a Professor of Latin, Greek and Classical Literature in the Spanish National University of Distance Education (UNED).
