On 21 September 2017, the international conference ‘New Trends in Children’s Book Publishing’, jointly organized by the Italian Publishers Association (AIE), Bologna Children’s Book Fair and Aldus network in the framework of the Federation of European Publishers’ Summer Meeting, took place in Bologna.

The event, held in the beautiful Stabat Mater lecture hall of the Archiginnasio Library, was organized under the patronage of the City of Bologna, in cooperation with Istituzione Biblioteche Bologna, the Archiginnasio of Bologna and the LIA Foundation.

Through an international panel of professionals, the conference addressed innovation trends in children’s book publishing from multiple perspectives: from the most successful stories engaging young readers to the emerging opportunities for publishers for selling rights with a transmedia approach, from the most innovative apps and digital products that have been awarded at Bologna Digital Media to new international formats for reading promotion, including the Children’s laureates experience. The conference ended with a special focus on books accessibility and strategies for inclusion and a practical demonstration of how technologies for inclusion can ensure that all readers can access the content they want.
