Maria Siakalli

Maria Siakalli was born in Nicosia in 1980. She is a graduate of the Department of Turkish Studies of the University of Cyprus and has completed her Postgraduate studies in Istanbul in the field of Cultural Studies. Since 2015 she is a PhD candidate at the Department of Turkish Studies of the University of Cyprus. Her research focuses on Literature, Peace Studies and Bi-communal Activity in Cyprus. She is a published poet. She was the General Secretary oft he Cyprus Writers Union between 2017- 2019. She is currently a Turkish Language and Literature teacher at the English School of Cyprus. She is the co- founder of the Baranga Publications, a Cypriot independent, bicommunal, bilingual publishing house, that was founded in December 2018.
