EWC-FAEE AISBL is the non-profit Federation of 45 national authors’ associations in 28 European countries representing over 150.000 individual writers and literary translators creating in 31 languages respectively. The EWC promotes and defends the professional interests of its members. It champions the diversity of literatures, languages and cultures while raising awareness of the contribution of authors in the text and book sectors in all the genres in contemporary society in Europe and worldwide. EWC collaborates with other stakeholders in the book value chain. It has official status as NGO international observer in the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO).
Through different cultural activities, the EWC publicly presents the commitment of professional writers and literary translators to shaping the profile of Europe via individual creativity and the common elements of cultural policy within the diversity of expressions. Key activities include annual conferences such as the Forum Mare Nostrum (every two years), events at the European Parliament and in different European cities, to name a few.
Aldus is the European Book Fairs’ network, offering book professionals new opportunities to develop their careers internationally, building capacities and collaboration opportunities through dedicated events, professional content resources, networking and training activities.
